SYLLABUS


NAMES; CORRECTION IN CIVIL REGISTRY OF BIRTHS BY ADDITION OF ALIASES. — Where it appears that the names appearing in the Civil registry of birth and those in the birth certificate are correct, a petition for correction of names in the entry in the said civil registry in order to add aliases allegedly omitted would be denied, because the supposed incompleteness in the civil registry is not sufficient to authorize the correction thereof.

Petitioners-appellees filed civil case No. 1555-R, in the Court of First Instance of Cebu entitled "In the Matter of the Petition for Change of Names of Salvadora Ong alias Peck Suan and Yap Ken Hua, Et. Al." and prayed, for the reasons stated therein, that the Civil Registrar of the City of Cebu be ordered "to correct and change the name of the father to YAP KENG HUE, of the mother to SALVADORA ONG alias PECK SUAN and of the child YAP BEE LING alias MARY as the true and correct names," alleging that the entry of their names in said local civil registry was erroneous, there appearing the name of the father as YAP KING HUE; the name of the mother as PECK SUAN ONG and the name of the child as YAP BEE LING.
