REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3465 - AN ACT AMENDING Sec. SIXTEEN HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE OF THE REVISED ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AS AMENDED BY REPUBLIC ACTS NUMBERED NINE HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE AND TWO THOUSAND SIXTY-EIGHT

Section 1. Section sixteen hundred fifty-nine of the Revised Administrative Code, as amended by Republic Acts Numbered Nine hundred forty-five and Two Thousand sixty-eight, is further amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 1659. Chief Officials of Office of the Solicitor General. – The Office of the Solicitor General shall have one chief to be known as the Solicitor General whose salary shall be sixteen thousand pesos per annum. He shall be assisted by one First Assistant Solicitor General whose salary shall be fourteen thousand pesos per annum. When the Solicitor General is unable to perform his duties or in case of a vacancy in the office, the First Assistant Solicitor General shall temporarily perform the functions of said officer, or in his absence, the next Assistant Solicitor General who is senior in the service. There shall also be five Assistant Solicitors General each of whom shall receive a salary of thirteen thousand pesos per annum, and thirty-eight Solicitors whose salaries shall be as follows:

"(a) Six Solicitors, eleven thousand pesos per annum, each;

"(b) Six Solicitors, ten thousand four hundred pesos per annum, each;

"(c) Six Solicitors, nine thousand eight hundred pesos per annum, each;

"(d) Six Solicitors, nine thousand two hundred pesos per annum, each;

"(e) Five Solicitors, eight thousand six hundred pesos per annum, each;

" Three Solicitors, eight thousand pesos per annum, each;

"(g) Three Solicitors, seven thousand four hundred pesos, per annum, each; and

"(h) Three Solicitors, six thousand eight hundred pesos per annum, each;

"The rank and qualifications for appointment to the position of Solicitor General shall be the same as an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals; the rank and qualifications for appointment to the position of the First Assistant Solicitor General and the Assistant Solicitors General shall be the same as those prescribed for Judges of Courts of First Instance, and those Solicitors shall be the same as those prescribed for provincial fiscals."

Sec. 2. The incumbent Solicitor General and all incumbent Assistant Solicitors General and Solicitors occupying positions affected by the preceding section at the time of the effectivity of this Act, shall continue to occupy their respective positions and receive the salary increase herein provided without the necessity of any new appointment.

Sec. 3. In addition to such sums as may have been provided in the current Appropriation Act, there is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.

Sec. 4. This Act shall take effect on July first, nineteen hundred and sixty-two.
