REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11288, April 12, 2019

AN ACT INCREASING THE BED CAPACITY OF THE MARIVELES MENTAL HOSPITAL IN MARIVELES, BATAAN FROM FIVE HUNDRED (500) BEDS TO SEVEN HUNDRED (700) BEDS, UPGRADING ITS SERVICES, TO INCLUDE THE OPERATION OF A LEVEL 1 GENERAL WARD WITH ONE HUNDRED (100)-BED CAPACITY, TO BE KNOWN AS THE MARIVELES MENTAL WELLNESS AND GENERAL HOSPITAL AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. The authorized bed capacity of the Mariveles Mental Hospital ill Mariveles, Bataan is hereby increased from five hundred (500) beds to seven hundred (700) beds, upgrading its services, to include the operation of a Level 1 general ward with one hundred (100)-bed capacity, to be known as the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital. The increase in bed capacity of the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital should be implemented consistently with the five (5)-year development plan of the hospital.

Sec. 2. The amount necessary for the expanded operation of the hospital, including the acquisition of additional medical equipment and facilities, the construction of needed infrastructure and the inclusion of additional medical personnel shall be charged against the succeeding year's operations and shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Sec. 3. The Department of Health shall issue the rules and regulations necessary for the effective implementation of this Act.

Sec. 4. If any provision or part of this Act is declared unconstitutional, the remaining parts or provisions not affected shall remain in full force and effect.

Sec. 5. All other laws, decrees, orders, issuances, rules and regulations, or parts thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.

Sec. 6. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act was passed by the Senate of the Philippines as Senate Bill No. 2062 on February 4, 2019 and adopted by the House of Representatives as an amendment to House Bill No. 8449 on February 7, 2019.
